  • Roofing - This course will review gable roofs, hip roofs, rise and pitch, overhangs, calculating roof area, and roofing terminology.

    These are the current requirements for renewing your Louisiana residential contractors license. We will always provide the newest information available and will update the requirements as soon as there are changes.

    • To renew your Residential Contractors License in the state of Louisiana, you are required to complete between 4 and 8 hours of continuing education every year.
    • Residential Contractors License expires every year on December 31st. Continuing education must be completed prior to expiration.
    • Continuing education must be completed in courses that cover construction related topics, safety, and business management. Excess continuing education hours may not be carried over.
    • The course provider will decide on length of course completion records. The licensee will determine the length of time that the certificate of completion will be kept on their record.
    • Continuing education hours must be submitted with renewal each year. The licensee is recommended to keep a record of course completion for verification to the Board. The Board will randomly audit to verify that licensees are meeting continuing education requirements.

A one-hour course covers the necessity of personal protection in the construction industry. This course is ideal for both the employee and the employer as both are responsible for compliance. Topics reviewed during this class include: assessment of PPE needs, hardhats, gloves, goggles, hearing protection. At the conclusion of this session, the user will have an option to take a seventy five question practice test, used to prove competency in these topics. The exam is very beneficial to employers.

This 1-hour course involves the modeling, selection and use of appropriate solar technologies to maintain the building environment at a desired temperature range throughout the sun's daily and annual cycles. As a result it generally minimizes the use of active solar, renewable energy and especially fossil fuel technologies.
Green Building

This 2-hour course introduces the student to green building concepts and practices implemented in building projects from initial site selection through design and construction, equipment selection and sizing, and waste management.
Fall Protection

This 1-hour course purpose is to provide the student with a thorough understanding of the OSHA requirements for Fall Protection. In 2004, a reported 1,224 construction workers died on the job with 36 percent of those fatalities resulting from falls. The intent of this course is to prevent as many accidents as possible and covers relevant factors including unstable working surfaces, misuse of fall protection equipment, and human error. Proper procedures will be covered including the use of guardrails, fall arrest systems, safety nets, covers and travel restriction systems. At the conclusion of this session, the user will have an option to take a seventy five question practice test, used to prove competency in these topics.
Roofing for Contractors

This 2-hour course purpose is to provide an overview of roofing. The terminology, basic theory, and codes will be discussed as well as the proper steps for making calculations with regard to roofing. How to calculate a rafter, hip valley, hip rafter and the number of bundles required for a structure are only a few of the math items discussed. Ladders and Stairways
